At 16:00 on May 25, Uganda time, Unit 4 of Karuma Hydropower Station in Uganda successfully completed its 7-day trial operation.

Generator No. 4 was officially started on April 23. According to the commissioning outline and specification requirements, it successfully passed routine tests such as overspeed test, current boost and voltage boost. It was officially connected to the grid on May 1 and commissioning was completed the next day. Due to various factors such as the capacity limitation of the local power grid, the No. 4 unit officially started a 7-day trial run on May 17. During the test run, the unit swing, bearing temperature, mechanical vibration and other performance indicators all met or exceeded the design requirements, and the operation was very stable. In order to ensure the smooth commissioning of the second machine of the project, the project department organized planning in advance and strengthened the linkage between the upper and lower levels; adopted a series of measures such as zoning management to strengthen guarantees, monthly assessments to improve efficiency, and weekly inspections to promote implementation, fully exploiting the synergy of departments, Stimulate the motivation of employees, strengthen the implementation of hard work, unite and fight for efficiency, and ensure the smooth progress of key nodes of the project.

The 7-day trial operation of unit 4 was completed, which was unanimously recognized and praised by the owner and supervisor. The owner unit UETCL stated: "According to Uganda's power demand and grid system conditions, the successful operation of the second unit of the Karuma Project means that Uganda has obtained an additional 100 MW of dispatchable power."

After the successful trial operation of the second unit of the Karuma Hydropower Station, it can be put into operation at any time according to the local line conditions in Uganda. The total power generation in Uganda will increase to 1478 MW, which will effectively promote the local economic construction. This year marks the 10th anniversary of China's "Belt and Road" initiative. The employees of Karuma Construction will fully promote the project's power generation compliance, continue to deepen the cooperative relationship between China and Uzbekistan, promote the high-quality development of "Belt and Road" cooperation, and use practical actions to help the China-Africa community with a shared future Build high-quality development.
